Patriots sign OL Jamil Douglas to the practice squad; release OL Ian Silberman from the practice squad

The New England Patriots announced today that they signed OL Jamil Douglas to the practice squad and released OL Ian Silberman from the practice squad.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they signed OL Jamil Douglas to the practice squad and released OL Ian Silberman from the practice squad. 

Douglas, 24, originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round draft pick (114th overall) of the Miami Dolphins out of Arizona State in 2015. The 6-foot-4, 308-pounder, played in all 16 games as a rookie with six starts, four at right guard and two at center. He began the 2016 season on the Miami practice squad before signed to the 53-man roster on Sept. 29 and seeing action as a reserve in a Thursday Night game at Cincinnati. Douglas was released by Miami and re-signed to the practice squad before being released by Miami on Oct. 11, 2016.

Silberman, 23, originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (190th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers out of Boston College in 2015. The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder, played in one game as a rookie last season, seeing action vs. Minnesota on Sept. 14 on special teams. He was released by the 49ers on Aug. 28, 2016, and signed to the New England practice squad on Sept. 15, 2016. He was released from the practice squad on Sept. 28, 2016, and re-signed to the New England practice squad on Oct. 11, 2016. Silberman began his college career at Florida. After graduating, he used his final season of eligibility at Boston College where he started all 12 games at guard.
