FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced that they signed OL Chase Farris and TE Austin Traylor to the practice squad. Farris was released from the practice squad on Oct. 26, 2016.
Farris, 23, was signed by New England to the practice squad on Oct. 5, 2016. He was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as a rookie free agent out of Ohio State on May 6, 2016. The 6-foot-4, 295-pounder, was released by Detroit on Aug. 29, 2016, and spent a couple of weeks on the Lions practice squad before being released on Sept. 21, 2016. Farris began his college career as a defensive lineman and transitioned to the offensive line following his sophomore season. He was a starter at right tackle during his senior season at Ohio State in 2015.
Traylor, 23, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Dallas Cowboys on May 17, 2016 out of Wisconsin. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder, was released by Dallas at the end of training camp and spent time on the practice squads of both Dallas and San Diego in 2016. He was released from San Diego's practice squad on Oct. 4, 2016. Traylor played in 38 games with 18 starts and caught 17 passes for 234 yards and four touchdowns during his college career.
