FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that Tom Brady has been named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October.
It is the ninth time overall that Brady has earned an AFC Player of the Month honor. It is Brady's first since he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September in 2015. It is Brady's second honor in 2016. He was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the 26th time in his career following the game at Cleveland on Oct. 9.
Brady led New England to a 4-0 record as a starter and completed 98-of-134 passes for 1,319 yards with 12 touchdowns and zero interceptions in October. In addition he has passed for 300 yards in three of the four games, including a 406-yard effort at Cleveland (10/9) and led the Patriots to 30 or more points in three of the four games. His 73.1 completion percentage is first in the NFL.
Brady owns a 48-13 October record for the most wins in the month by any starting quarterback in NFL history. Peyton Manning (45-16) has the second-most wins in October by an NFL quarterback. Brady has now won 13 straight games in October.
It is the sixth time this season that a Patriots player has earned an NFL honor in 2016. K Stephen Gostkowski was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the win at Arizona on Sept. 11, and P Ryan Allen was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance vs. Houston on Sept. 22. RB LeGarrette Blount was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September and Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following the Cleveland game on Oct. 9. LB Dont'a Hightower was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his play in the win vs. Cincinnati on Oct. 16.
