FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced that they have re-signed DB Duron Harmon. Terms of the contract were not announced. In addition, the Patriots re-signed restricted free agent TE Michael Williams.
Harmon, 26, is a veteran of four NFL seasons with New England after originally joining the team as a third round draft pick (91st overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder, has played in 63 regular season games with 12 starts and has accumulated 71 total tackles, 7 interceptions, 12 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble and 2 fumble recoveries. In addition, he has played in 10 postseason games with five starts and has 7 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 3 passes defensed.
Last season, Harmon played in 16 games with four starts and finished with 27 total tackles, 1 interception and 2 passes defensed. He also started all three postseason games and added 6 total tackles with 1 interception.
Williams, 26, was originally acquired by the Patriots from Detroit in a trade for an undisclosed draft pick on Aug. 26, 2015. The 6-foot-6, 304-pounder, entered the NFL as a seventh round draft pick (21tth overall) by Detroit in the 2013 NFL Draft out of Alabama. After spending his rookie season on injured reserve, Williams spent the 2014 season on the Detroit practice squad while transitioning from tight end to an offensive tackle. In 2015 with the Patriots, Williams played in 15 games with nine starts, primarily as a blocking tight end. He registered three receptions for 26 yards. Williams also played in both postseason games with one start but did not record any statistics. He spent the 2016 season on injured reserve after suffering an injury during the spring.
