Rob Ninkovich shares touching photo with WWII veteran

Rob Ninkovich posted a photo to his Instagram on the anniversary of D-Day with a veteran who survived invasion.

June 6 marked the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, and people across the world paused to remember the sacrifice that was made on the beaches of Normandy during World War II.

Rob Ninkovich was no exception.

In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Rob shared a photo with a World War II veteran who survived the invasion and made sure his followers knew how grateful he is for the service of men like Richard Fazzio. Richard served as a coxswain in the Navy, and Rob expressed his gratitude with a heartfelt message.

"Meeting this man was a true honor, we are forever indebted, many men lost their lives for our freedom. The men who were lucky to survive came home with physical and mental scars that are incomprehensible," Rob wrote. "Thank You Richard and all other veterans who served on that historic day."

Rob met Richard at the premiere of "D-Day: Over Normandy," a film narrated by Coach Bill Belichick, on May 27 in Providence. At the event, Rob had host duties, met with World War II veterans and took part in a panel.

You can get more info about the film, including a trailer, here.
