Stephen Gostkowski named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Stephen Gostkwoski has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Patriots’ 26-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Stephen Gostkwoski has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Patriots' 26-10 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. It is the second time this season and the fifth time in his career that Gostkowski has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. He earned the award for the first time in 2016 following his performance in the Patriots' Week 1 at Arizona. Gostkowski has also been named Special Teams Player of the Month three times - October 2008, October 2009 and September 2015.

Gostkowski was 4-for-4 on field goals in the win over the Rams, including three field goals of 40 or more yards (48, 45 and 45). It marked the third time in his career that has mas been successful on three field goals of 40 or more yards in a single game. He also made three kicks of 40 or more yards vs. Arizona on Sept. 16, 2012, and most recently at Buffalo on Oct. 12, 2014. It is the 11th time in his career he has made four or more kicks in a single game.

It is the eighth time this season that a Patriots player has earned an NFL honor, including both of Gostkowski's honor. Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week following his Week 5 performance at Cleveland and in Week 11 at San Francisco. He was also named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. P Ryan Allen was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance vs. Houston in Week 3. RB LeGarrette Blount was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for September, while LB Dont'a Hightower earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a Week 6 win vs. Cincinnati.
