FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that G Cole Strange has been activated to the 53-man roster. Strange was placed on the Reserve/PUP List on Aug. 27, 2024 due to injury that was suffered last season vs. Kansas City on Dec. 17, 2023.
The Patriots also announced that WR K.J. Osborn has been released. Osborn was signed by New England as an unrestricted free agent from Minnesota on March 19, 2024.
In addition, the Patriots signed K John Parker Romo to the practice squad and released LB Keshawn Banks (pronounced – KEY-shawn) from the practice squad.
Osborn, 27, originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft pick (176th overall) by Minnesota in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Miami (Fla.). The 6-foot, 200-pounder, played in seven games with four starts for the Patriots this season and finished with 7 receptions for 57 yards and 1 touchdown. Overall, Osborn has played in 66 games with 34 starts and has 165 receptions for 1,902 yards with 16 touchdowns. He has also returned 11 punts for 50 yards and 14 kicks for 303 yards.
Romo, 27, spent time with Minnesota this year, playing in four games and making 11-of-12 field goals and 7-of-8 extra points. He was released by Minnesota on Dec. 7, 2024. The 5-foot-11, 190-pounder, originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with New Orleans in 2022 out of Virginia Tech before being released at the end of training camp. After spending the 2023 spring season with the San Antonio Brahmas, he went to training camp with Detroit and spent part of the 2023 season on the Chicago practice squad. Romo was signed by Minnesota in March of 2024 and was released on July 29. He was re-signed by Minnesota on Nov. 5 and made his NFL debut at Jacksonville on Nov 10.
Banks, 24, played in the last three games with New England after being elevated to the active roster from the practice squad. The 6-foot-3, 255-pounder, was signed by New England to the practice squad on Oct 23, 2024. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Green Bay Packers out of San Diego State on May 1, 2023. Banks spent the entire 2023 season on the Green Bay practice squad. He was elevated to the active roster for the Packers NFC Divisional playoff game at San Francisco on Jan. 20, 2024 and made his NFL debut with limited action on defense and special teams. Banks went to training camp with Green Bay this past summer but was released prior to the start of the regular season.
