It was quite hot yet again in Foxborough on Friday, so, most of the Patriots went out to practice in shorts, as you might expect. Tom Brady, however, was wearing sweat pants, in an apparent effort not to disclose which leg is his injured one.
The Patriots quarterback was back on the field after missing Thursday's workout with a calf injury. He did not appear to be hindered in any way as he jogged from sideline to sideline several times during the team stretching period, which was all the media was allowed to see.
Not surprisingly, Brady's head coach was far less willing to declare whether or not his quarterback would be starting Sunday in Miami against the Dolphins.
"We've done everything we're required to do," stated Bill Belichick. "We've listed the injury. We'll continue to list it and we'll list his status based on what the requirements of the league are, just like we do with every other player."
Belichick was also asked if Brady's missing practice on Thursday was significant in terms of his team's overall practice preparation for the season opener.
"Jimmy [Garoppolo] steps in and does it," he replied matter-of-factly. "It's no different than any other position or anything we've done before there."
The final injury report of the week will be released late Friday afternoon and will include game status predictions for each player listed (out, doubtful, questionable or probable). The Patriots are scheduled to arrive in South Florida on Friday evening.
