TAMPA, Fla. (July 27, 2005) -- Linebacker Barrett Ruud, Tampa Bay's second-round pick, signed with the Buccaneers.

The 36th overall pick in last April's draft, Ruud finished as the all-time leading tackler in Nebraska history with 432. Ruud will likely compete with Shelton Quarles at middle linebacker and add depth for an aging Tampa Bay linebacker corps.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Ruud led the Big 12 with 143 tackles. His father, Tom Ruud, played for Nebraska and spent five years with the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals.
