IRVING, Texas (Feb. 14, 2007) -- Ray Sherman and John Garrett were hired as assistants to new Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips.
Sherman, who had been with eight other NFL teams dating to 1988, will be the receivers coach. Garrett, the brother of offensive assistant Jason Garrett, will coach tight ends.
Sherman spent the last two seasons coaching receivers at Tennessee and before that was with Green Bay.
John Garrett spent the last three seasons coaching receivers at the University of Virginia. He coached in the NFL for Cincinnati and Arizona.
Jason Garrett is expected to the offensive coordinator, though Phillips hasn't confirmed his title. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hired Garrett after interviewing him for the head coach vacancy before Phillips replaced the retired Bill Parcells Feb. 8.
On Feb. 13, Phillips added his son, Wesley, the quarterbacks coach at Baylor, as an offensive assistant and former Cowboys linebacker Dat Nguyen as a defensive assistant.
