New England Patriots rookie quarterback Drake Maye has made an impressive debut this season in the NFL, and now he's making a difference off the field as well.
The first-round draft pick, selected third overall in 2024, recently donated $10,000 to The Salvation Army for Hurricane Helene relief in his home state of North Carolina. The funds will support ongoing recovery efforts, including providing hot meals and cleanup kits to communities heavily impacted by the storm.
A native of Huntersville, N.C., and a former standout at the University of North Carolina, Maye's contribution comes at a crucial time. Hurricane Helene caused widespread destruction, leaving many areas without power and infrastructure. Since the storm's landfall, The Salvation Army has served over 100,000 meals and distributed supplies to nearly 500 families, with continued efforts in places like Asheville and Black Mountain.
The donation reflects Maye's commitment to his roots and desire to help those in need. Jeff Jellets, The Salvation Army's Territorial Disaster Coordinator, emphasized the long road to recovery, calling the contribution a "blessing" that will help sustain relief operations.
Maye's actions highlight not only his skill on the field but also his dedication to making a positive impact off it.
