Wide receiver Terry Glenn has been given permission to miss the Patriots mini-camp this week, the team announced in a statement Sunday.
[7988:leftGlenn did not ask to be excused, but Head Coach Bill Belichick and Glenn's agent, James Gould, agreed he would be better served to take the time off to resolve some personal problems stemming from charges of assault and battery on the mother of his child.
"I spoke to Terry Glenn's representative and informed him that although Terry is welcome to participate in this week's mini-camp, concerns exist about his very serious personal situation," Belichick said in the statement. "His representative and I agreed that under the current circumstances, it is in the best interests of both Terry and the team that he be permitted and encouraged to address his personal situation in a non-football environment. Clearly, Terry has been unable to handle those matters while demonstrating the standard of commitment set by the vast majority of our players, who have made excellent strides this offseason. This is in no way a judgment of his legal case."
