In February of 2000, groundbreaking for the construction of CMGI Field commenced. On Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2001, Patriots owner Robert Kraft commemorated the one-year anniversary of the project by offering Massachusetts Governor Paul Cellucci and members of the New England press corps a guided tour and a first-year progress report on the construction site.
The $325 million commitment is the largest privately-financed construction project in the history of the Commonwealth. When completed, prior to the Patriots home opener in 2002, CMGI Field will be the proud home of the New England Patriots and the New England Revolution.
