Patriots fans have all been there. In the months following the Super Bowl but before the regular season, they sometimes find themselves flipping through the television channels looking to fill a football-shaped void; they wonder how long they have to wait until kickoff.
This week, Gronk embodies this exact sentiment perfectly in an unlikely place: Katy Perry's new music video.
Katy released the official video for her new song "Swish Swish" featuring Nicki Minaj, and in it, she and a misfit basketball team coached by former SNL player Molly Shannon face off against an all-star team led by actor Terry Crews. As the team gets pummeled in the first half, the camera pans to the crowd, and there we see Gronk holding a sign that says it all, "When does football season start?"
Katy's team eventually turns it around with some unconventional methods, but for Patriots fans, it'll be their tight end who steals the show.
This isn't the first time this summer Gronk has been at the forefront of pop music. Earlier in the offseason, Gronk helped Demi Lovato host a house party to celebrate her new single, "Sorry Not Sorry."
Gronk wasn't the only familiar face in the star-studded video. Hot dog eating champ Joey Chestnut, Timberwolf Karl-Anthony Towns, Bill Walton, Rich Eisen, Doug the Pug and Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin in "Stranger Things," were just some of the famous faces in the video.
Though Gronk's role in "Swish Swish" was brief, it is a great reason for Patriots fans to jam to Katy's new song. You can check out the music video below.
