The Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2025 is down to its final 50 modern-era candidates and five long-time Patriots greats are among those to advance.
Rodney Harrison, a 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame finalist, leads the way and is joined by fellow defender Vince Wilfork. Logan Mankins represents the offensive side of the ball alongside the original no. 87 Ben Coates, while kicker Adam Vinatieri makes it to the top 50 in his first year of eligibility.
Other notable NFL greats to advance include Patriots nemesis Eli Manning, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch and Legion of Boom founding members Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellor.
Each member of the Hall of Fame's full Selection Committee will review and then cast a vote for the 25 nominees each believes should advance to the Semifinalist stage. The names of the 25 Semifinalists will be announced in November.
Rodney Harrison: A hard-hitting safety known for his versatility and leadership, Harrison was a two-time Super Bowl champion and a two-time Pro Bowler. Harrison ranks among the top in career interceptions for a safety, highlighting his impact on the game and why he made it all the way to the finalist stage in 2023 for Hall of Fame voting.
Vince Wilfork: A dominant defensive tackle, Wilfork was instrumental in the Patriots' defense during his tenure, contributing to two Super Bowl victories that connected the end of one three-championship run and began another. Known for his size and agility, he was a five-time Pro Bowler and a key player in stopping the run, more than a nose tackle but a versatile defensive lineman.
Ben Coates: A standout tight end, Coates was known for his receiving ability and athleticism. He earned five Pro Bowl selections and was a crucial part of the Patriots' offense in the 1990s and formed a fearsome target for quarterback Drew Bledsoe.
Logan Mankins: A dominant offensive guard, Mankins was a first-round pick, a key protector for Tom Brady and a mauling presence for the Patriots run game. He earned six Pro Bowl selections and was recognized for his exceptional run-blocking skills and durability over his career.
Adam Vinatieri: Widely regarded as one of the greatest kickers in NFL history, Vinatieri's clutch performances in crucial moments, including game-winning field goals in two Super Bowls, have solidified his legacy. He is the NFL's all-time leading scorer and has numerous accolades, including three Super Bowl rings. His kick in the 2001 AFC Divisional Round Snow Bowl against the Oakland Raiders is the greatest kick of all time.
These players exemplify the excellence and impact of the Patriots' franchise, contributing significantly to the team's success over the years and now they're all one step closer to potential induction into the Hall of Fame.
