ATLANTA (Oct. 24, 2005) -- New York Jets quarterback Vinny Testaverde injured his right Achilles' tendon and left the game against the Atlanta Falcons late in the third quarter.
The 41-year-old Testaverde, who fumbled three times in the first half, appeared to get hurt trying to escape a heavy rush. He threw an interception on the next play.
Brooks Bollinger took over on the next possession with the Jets trailing 27-7. Team officials said Testaverde's return was questionable.
Testaverde was signed by the Jets after Chad Pennington and Jay Fiedler, their top two quarterbacks, went down with injuries. He was 11 of 18 for 139 yards with the four turnovers against the Falcons.
