The individual talent in New England is not very strong, according to one football publication.
In its latest issue, Football Digest ranked the top 100 players in the NFL, and cornerback Ty Law, listed at No. 84, was the only Patriot to crack the list. Law, who made the Pro Bowl in 1998, was the seventh cornerback on the list. The others were: Samari Rolle (20); Sam Madison (23); Charles Woodson (28); Champ Bailey (41); Ray Buchanan (45) and Donnie Abraham (55).
Indianaolis, the New York Jets and Miami each placed four players in the top 100, while Buffalo had two. The Colts had the highest-ranked group with running back Edgerrin James (6), quarterback Peyton Manning (9) and wide receiver Marvin Harrison (14) all breaking into the top 15. Defensive linemen Chad Bratzke (54) also made the list for Indy.
The Jets had Curtis Martin (22), center Kevin Mawae (47), and linebackers Mo Lewis (46) and Marvin Jones (89) on the list. Madison, defensive end Jason Taylor (24), linebacker Zach Thomas (33) and defensive lineman Tim Bowens (76) made it, while linebacker Sam Cowart (25) and guard Ruben Brown (90) represented Buffalo.
The top position was linebacker with 16 of the 100. Next was wide receiver with 12 and defensive tackle with 11.
