The Patriots' Ty Law was placed on Injured Reserve with a broken hand, and cornerback Rico Clark was signed to the active roster in Law's place.
Clark, who was released by Cincinnati on Dec. 14, will provide insurance for a depleted corps of New England cornerbacks. In addition to Law's injury, starter Steve Israel has an ankle injury and Tebucky Jones has a knee injury. The only healthy cornerback is backup Kato Serwanga.
In an additional transaction, cornerback Corey Ivy was signed to New England's practice squad. Ivy spent training camp with the team before being released when the Patriots trimmed their roster to 53 on Sept. 5. To make room for Ivy, defensive tackle Noel Scarlett was cut from the practice squad.
