There is only one Trey Flowers, but thanks to Mystic Aquarium, he now has an animal counterpart.
After the Patriots win in Super Bowl LI, the Connecticut aquarium decided to honor the team in a unique way. Each year, the aquarium has a naming theme for the seals it rehabilitates and releases back into the wild, and the theme for 2017 is flowers.
While this originally meant the rehabilitated seals would be released under names like "Rose" or "Daffodil," the staff at Mystic Aquarium decided it would be fitting to name one after a Patriots flower: Trey. The seal will likely be released in two or three weeks, once it has completed rehabilitation. Then Trey will be back in the wild, though we'll leave the sacking of quarterbacks to the human Trey Flowers.
Mystic Aquarium didn't stop their either. Before kickoff, the staff made a bet with the staff at the Georgia Aquarium. Whichever's team lost the Super Bowl would have to perform their sea lion show in the winning team's jerseys. Members of the Georgia Aquarium staff were great sports during the "Under the Boardwalk" presentation on Wednesday.
You can watch the Georgia Aquarium make good on their promise in the video below.
