The Patriots announced that they had cut wide receiver Jimmy Farris and long snapper Ryan Benjamin Monday morning. Head Coach Bill Belichick made the announcement in his daily press conference.
Farris had been in a battle for the fifth receiver spot and had made some impressive catches in training camp and in preseason action. Benjamin had seen little work in the preseason.
The two moves now leave the Patriots with 71 players on the roster, although three players have NFL Europe roster exemptions. The team will have to make at least three other moves by 4 p.m. today. Check back to Patriots.com for an update on those transactions later this afternoon.
