FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have placed LB Jerod Mayo on injured reserve.
Mayo, 29, was injured in last Saturday's victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. The 6-foot-1, 250-pounder, played in all 16 regular season games with eight starts and accumulated 49 total tackles, 1 sack and 1 pass defensed. Mayo originally joined the Patriots as a first-round draft pick (10th overall) out of Tennessee in the 2008 NFL Draft. Overall, he has played in 103 regular season games with 93 starts for New England, tallying 900 total tackles, 11 sacks, three interceptions, 19 passes defensed, 8 forced fumbles and 7 fumble recoveries.
