Lions and tigers and... lemurs? Oh my.
The New England Patriots and Revolution on Tuesday night hosted their annual Halloween party for pediatric cancer patients at Gillette Stadium.
This year's event was "safari" themed, and player costumes did not disappoint.
"I thought I was a raccoon at first," quarterback Jacoby Brissett said, "but I guess I'm a lemur?"
The lemur was among a group of elephants, giraffes, tigers, lions, bears, monkeys, and a snake.
Brissett, Hunter Henry, Antonio Gibson, Michael Onwenu, Marcus Jones, Cole Strange, Marcellus Dial, Michael Jordan, Bryan Hudson, Eric Johnson III, and Ochaun Mathis all joined the Patriots Foundation in hosting children battling cancer.
"It's super cool to just take time out for the kids," said Gibson, sporting a onesie elephant costume.
"Not everybody is fortunate so to see the smiles on their faces, even just if it's for a few hours, that means the world."
About 30 children receiving treatment from local area hospitals were invited to the costume party, which included Halloween-themed activities like pumpkin and cookie decorating, games, a balloon artist, and more.
As much as the day lifted the spirits of children and their families, Brissett knows it's uplifting him and his teammates in the same way.
"This is what it's all about," Brissett said.
"These kids haven't had a chance to really be be kids, so to provide a safe space for them and their families to actually get to experience a fun holiday is great to be a part of. They might miss out on some of these experiences normally because of their condition, so it makes it that much sweeter."
