Patriots 'shark' sighting in Chatham ... kind of

Rob Gronkowski isn't the only Patriots shark expert in New England.

The Patriot swam with and helped tag sharks this off-season, but the latest Patriots-shark combo sighting is significantly less terrifying. Instead of wreaking havoc in Chatham, a herd of sharks showed up on land to raise money.

Every year, the Chatham Merchants Association hosts a "Sharks in the Park" fundraiser, where local artists design cardboard sharks sponsored by local businesses. The sharks are auctioned off, and this year, one artist had the Patriots as her muse.

Artist Patti DuVall created a Patriots shark, complete with Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, Bill Belichick and the shark expert himself, Gronk. The Patriots shark was auctioned off for a whopping $4,050, and according to the Cape Cod Chronicle, the Patriots shark had one of the highest bids.

Sharks have been a point of conversation this Patriots offseason. During media availability on Aug. 19, Gronk talked a bit (and hilariously) about his new friends of the sea.

"I heard there's some great whites out there. I haven't seen any great whites yet," Gronk said. "They don't know me yet. I only swam with tigers. So, maybe I'll go say hi to my friends."

The Patriots shark may not be a great white, but it certainly counts as a "friend" of the Pats.
