Foxboro, Mass. – The New England Patriots signed cornerback Andre' Dixon to the practice squad, today. Dixon played his college football at Northeastern.
Dixon, 24, spent the 2000 preseason with the Detroit Lions but was waived on Aug. 23, 2000. The 6-foot-1-inch, 200-pound cornerback was originally signed as a rookie free agent on April 23, 1999 by the Green Bay Packers. He was waived by the Packers and signed onto the Detroit Lions practice squad on Oct. 6, 1999. Dixon was signed onto the Lions active roster on Nov. 24 and was activated for the Thanksgiving Day game vs. Chicago. He was placed back onto the practice squad on Nov. 30 and then the Lions re-signed him onto their active roster on Dec. 18. He saw action on special teams in the final three games of the regular season with the Lions .
Dixon was a three-year starter and four-time letterman at Northeastern. He totaled 171 tackles and six interceptions in his college career.
