FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed OL Ian Silberman to the practice squad. In addition, the Patriots released OL Clay DeBord from the practice squad.
Silberman, 23, originally entered the NFL as a sixth-round draft pick (190th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers out of Boston College in 2015. The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder, played in one game as a rookie last season, seeing action vs. Minnesota on Sept. 14 on special teams. He was released by the 49ers on Aug. 28, 2016. Silberman began his college career at Florida. After graduating, he used his final season of eligibility at Boston College where he started all 12 games at guard.
DeBord, 24, was signed by the Patriots to the practice squad on Sept. 4, 2016. He was originally signed by the Arizona Cardinals as a rookie free agent out of Eastern Washington on May 2, 2016. The 6-foot-6, 305-pounder, was released by Arizona on Aug. 29, 2016. DeBord made a school-record 51 starts at left tackle during his college career.
