Defensive end Saul Patu was brought back to New England's practice squad Tuesday, filling the last spot on the five-man roster.
Patu, 23, spent a week with the Patriots before being waived from the practice squad on Oct. 16. He was originally signed by the New York Jets as a rookie free agent following the 2001 NFL draft. He spent the 2001 preseason with the Jets, but was released on Sept. 2, 2001. The 6-3, 272 pound defensive end finished his Oregon career with 167 tackles, including 26.5 sacks and 53 tackles for losses.
New England had an opening on the practice squad because wide receiver Curtis Jackson was signed to the active roster prior to the Indianapolis game.
