No, we're not looking past the Week 4 game in Oakland … well, OK, we kind of are, but only to inform you that that's when the Patriots will wear their 1985-era uniforms — the red ones with the old Pat Patriot logo on the helmet. Those are the same ones they wore last season on Halloween against the Vikes and Thanksgiving at Detroit.
This is the only game scheduled this year in which those jerseys will be worn. However, in conjunction with breast cancer awareness month, the Patriots will again wear pink-themed accessories during the Raiders and Cowboys games in the month of October. Anything and everything you can think of will be pink in those two games, including the ceremonial coins for the coin toss and pink goal post padding.
Two editorial suggestions: I absolutely love these uniforms. They're the ones I grew up with, so, they'll always hold a special place in my heart. Now, if they could just wear them against San Diego, when the Chargers decide to trot out their "Powder Blues" with the numbers on the helmets, well, then the two best unis in league history would be on display at the same time. We already missed our chance for that this year, but what about this idea: since the team won't be wearing pink with their throwbacks against the Jets, maybe get P!nk to sing the national anthem?
