Despite several reports this morning that said wide receiver Julian Edelman had been offered a three-year deal to remain with the Patriots, the wideout will hit the free agenct market according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Via Twitter, Rapoport cited a source that said the sides couldn't reach a deal and that Edelman would hit free agency. Various other reports indicated that Edelman's camp did not believe the deal represented fair market value and that the possibility that the Patriots imposed a deadline for him to sign in did not sit well either.
The league year is set to officially begin at 4 p.m.
