According to various reports, the Patriots have signed fourth-year guard Shaq Mason to a five-year contract extension worth up to $50 million.
NFL Network was the first to report the news, which was quickly followed up on and confirmed by a variety of outlets.
Mason will reportedly get $23 million guaranteed and could earn nearly $30 million in the first three years of the new deal.
Mason is a former 2015 fourth-round pick out of Georgia Tech who started 41 of the 46 games he's played over the first three years of his NFL career. The 6-1, 310-pound mauler started all 16 regular season games last season and 31 straight over the last two years at right guard.
Mason was set to hit free agency after this season, but now will be a mainstay on the offensive line for the foreseeable future.
