Represented by Marcus Cannon, Ted Karras, and Nick Caley
Petty Officer Second Class Amandio J. "AJ" DeCoito was born August 1, 1988, and graduated from Barnstable High School, in Barnstable, Massachusetts in 2006. He was an outstanding academic student as well as an athlete who loved football and basketball and played baseball and lacrosse. AJ attended community college before enlisting in the Navy in 2008.
While stationed at Little Creek, Virginia, his duties as a Navy Cryptologic Technician Networks (CTN) were to detect, protect, react and respond to cyber threats against military networks. AJ displayed exceptional leadership skills and his leadership made an immediate impact. He was an outstanding technical trainer and earned many awards, including Navy and Marine Corp Commendation Medal for Exceptional Leadership, Meritorious Service Award as a Threat Analyst and Network Forensic Lead Analyst at Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command.
He loved physical fitness and working out and treasured his longstanding relationships with his friends and family. He also cherished the fellowship with his friends and coworkers in the US Navy. And he loved his brother, Jim.
AJ was a reserved young man, but had great ambition, intellect and the confidence to achieve great things. His quiet kindness and concern for others is sorely missed by all who knew him. AJ and Jim enlisted in the US Navy together, and even researched jobs so they could be together in Virginia.
AJ and Jim were loyal, faithful New England Patriots fans and were thrilled when the Pats won the first Super Bowl in their lifetime, in 2002.
AJ passed suddenly and unexpectedly on October 16, 2011.
