The Josh Gordon saga may be coming to an end in New England. The talented-but-troubled wide receiver posted a message on Twitter Thursday morning indicating he is taking some time away from football to focus on his mental health.
Gordon arrived via trade in September and quickly found a role in the offense. While he wasn't the explosive play-maker he was in his early days in Cleveland, Gordon was an effective receiver on the outside over the last three months.
Gordon currently ranks fourth on the Patriots with 40 receptions for a team-best 720 yards and three touchdowns. Now it appears the offense will need to find another option outside. Cordarrelle Patterson, Chris Hogan and Phillip Dorsett would be the candidates for bigger roles, but regardless Gordon's absence creates a hole in the passing game.
