HOUSTON (July 7, 2006) -- The Houston Texans signed second-round pick DeMeco Ryans.
Ryans, a linebacker from Alabama, won the Lott Award as the nation's top defensive player and was selected the SEC defensive player of the year.
The 6-foot-1, 239-pound player, taken with the first pick in the second round, led the Crimson Tide last season with 76 tackles. He also had two fumble recoveries, an interception, a forced fumble and broke up two passes.
