New England Patriots linebacker Mike Vrabel has been voted the GMC Defensive Player of the Week. Vrabel recorded 13 tackles (11 solo) and three sacks in the Patriots' 52-7 win over the Washington Redskins. Vrabel also forced three fumbles, the third was run back by linebacker Rosevelt Colvin for a touchdown. Vrabel was the defensive player of the week, but he also caught a 2-yard touchdown pass, the tenth of his career. He capped his day with an onsides kick recovery.
Vrabel was selected from five finalists by the voters on NFL.com. The other finalists were Eagles defensive end Trent Cole, Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie who scored two toucdowns in San Diego's victory, Jagaurs cornerback Aaron Glenn, and Titans defensive end Travis LaBoy.
After the regular season, five players will be nominated for GMC Defensive Player of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com throughout the month of January.
