The New England Patriots Cheerleaders hosted their 21st annual Junior Patriots Cheerleaders program this summer. The first clinic was held June 17 for ages 6-9 and the second clinic was on July 11 for ages 10-17. These 2.5-hour clinics were attended by a total of 500 youth cheerleaders from across New England. The annual program includes exciting opportunities to make connections and learn skills from the Patriots Cheerleaders, as well as a dance performance on the Gillette Stadium field. Even Pat Patriot made a special appearance to welcome the Junior Cheerleaders and their families into the event! Every Junior Cheerleader received an official Junior Patriots Cheerleaders t-shirt, set of poms, and drawstring bag to be used during the clinic and taken home afterward, along with some other fun surprises. The Junior Cheerleaders first had the opportunity to meet the Patriots Cheerleaders when they broke out into their smaller groups, each led by squad members. After everyone had a chance to introduce themselves and warm up, they began learning the choreography for their large group routine to be performed at the end of the evening. Throughout the program, Junior Cheerleaders traveled to different activity stations including stunting, tumbling, cheers & jumps, fitness activities, and team bonding. They even had a chance to learn more about each of the Patriots Cheerleaders, their background, and careers. At the end of the evening, the Junior Cheerleaders were able to perform their routine all together for their family & friends in attendance under the Gillette Stadium lights.
The Junior Patriots Cheerleaders program will continue into the season as the squad will meet up with the juniors for co-appearances in the community.
