Arizona acquires offensive tackle Gorin from Pats

The Arizona Cardinals acquired offensive tackle Brandon Gorin from the New England Patriots in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.

TEMPE, Ariz. (Aug. 21, 2006) -- The Arizona Cardinals acquired offensive tackle Brandon Gorin from the New England Patriots in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.

The 6-foot-6, 308-pound lineman played in 32 games, 18 of them as a starter, for New England. He started at right tackle the final eight regular season games and both playoff games last year and the final 10 regular-season games and all three playoff games in 2004.

The acquisition is an attempt to shore up the Cardinals' thin and suspect offensive line. Projected starting right tackle Oliver Ross is out until at least the second week of regular season following arthroscopic knee surgery.

Gorin was a seventh-round draft pick of the San Diego Chargers out of Purdue in 2001. He was inactive on game day throughout his rookie season, then was released in 2002.

He signed with New England's practice squad and played in six regular season games and both playoff contests for the Patriots in 2003.
