The Cincinnati Enquirer has reported that the Bengals have offered a contract to New England cornerback Steve Israel.
Israel, an eight-year veteran who started a career-high 13 games in 1999, joined the Patriots in March of 1997. Last season he had 61 tackles, one sack, one interception and two fumble recoveries. In three years with New England, Israel recorded four interceptions and four sacks despite missing several games each season.
In 1999, the cornerback missed three games, while in 1998 he saw action in 11 games, including seven starts.
