Orchard Park, N.Y. -- The Buffalo Bills today placed tight end Kevin Everett and wide receiver Chris Denney on the NFL's Waived/Failed Physical list, the team has announced.
Everett sustained a neck injury in last year's regular season opener that immediately drew the attention of the nation. His recovery has been well documented by national media coverage.
In a team statement the organization commented, "The Buffalo Bills continue to be moved by Kevin Everett's heartwarming story of his recovery. His progress from September 9 of last year through today is nothing short of a miracle and is a tremendous example of faith, family and hard work. Today we are faced with the difficult decision to place Kevin on the Waived/Failed Physical list, making him eligible to apply for any benefits due him. We had numerous discussions with the league in dealing with this process to assist him in the best way possible. Kevin will always remain a Buffalo Bill in the same way that Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas and so many others before him are held in the highest regard by our franchise."
Denney, who was signed as an undrafted rookie in 2006 out of Nebraska-Omaha, suffered a knee injury while playing in NFL Europa last spring and did not return to action.
