MIAMI -- Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte Stallworth has surrendered on a DUI manslaughter charge.

Stallworth appeared in a Miami courtroom Thursday on charges that he was drunk when his car struck and killed 59-year-old Mario Reyes last month. The charge carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence.

Prosecutors say Stallworth had a blood-alcohol level of .12, well above Florida's .08 legal limit. Police say Stallworth had been drinking at a Miami Beach hotel in the hours before the fatal crash.

Stallworth was led out of court in handcuffs. He is expected to be released later in the day on $200,000 bail.

The 28-year-old signed a seven-year, $35 million contract with the Browns before last season. He previously played for New England, Philadelphia and New Orleans.
