Casey Tisdale - Draft Bio

In the 7th round of the 2000 NFL Draft (226th overall) from New Mexico the Patriots select Casey Tisdale.

Two-year letterman and a starter at linebacker as a senior...played defensive end in 1998...set the school record for defensive linemen in 1998 with a 4.71 clocking in the 40...also a 36 ½" vertical leap...a redshirt in 1997.

            **1999 (Senior):** Played in all 11 games, starting 10...played most of the season with a mild ankle sprain suffered in the first half of the opener at UTEP...3rd on the team with 74 tackles...among UNM leaders in sacks (6.5) and TFLs (8.5)...62 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 2 TFL, 4 PBUs, 1 interception and 2 caused fumbles the last 9 games...maybe the best game of his career in front of family and friends in his hometown of San Diego...in a career-high 74 plays vs. San Diego State, Tisdale had a career-high 10 tackles, including 2 sacks for 19 yards in losses, a caused fumble and an acrobatic intercepton he tipped at the line of scrimmage and returned 9 yards...6 tackles and a pass deflection against Colorado State...9 tackles, a sack, pass deflection and tackle for a loss vs. BYU...9 tackles at Utah...7 tackles, including 1 for a 7-yard loss, a 1-yard sack and a pass deflection at Boise State...vs. Northern Arizona, 6 tackles, including 1 ½ sacks for 12 yards in losses, and a pass deflection...did not play in the 2nd half at UTEP due to the ankle sprain...6 tackles against New Mexico State, including a 17-yard sack.  

1998 (Junior): Played in all 12 games with 11 starts...did not start against UTEP...tied for 5th on the team with 46 stops...3 sacks was 3rd-best on the team - which totaled 22 yards in losses...2 tackles and his team-best 3rd fumble recovery of the season at BYU...2 tackles in 52 plays against Fresno State, plus a TFL, sack and fumble recovery in the first quarter...tied his season-high with 6 tackles and a PBU against Hawaii...also 6 tackles against Idaho State, Utah State and Air Force...recorded 3 tackles in a season-high 64 plays against San Diego State...5 tackles and a PBU in 55 plays vs. New Mexico State.

Junior College: Spent two seasons (1995-96) at San Diego Mesa College...1st team all-Mission Conference for coach Dave Fager when he had 64 tackles, 4 sacks, 6 pass deflections, 13 quarterback hurries, 3 fumbles recovered, 2 fumbles caused and a 74-yard interception for a TD.

High School: A 1995 graduate of University HS in San Diego...lived in Adak, Alaska, his first 2 years of high school, so he did not play football...moved to San Diego prior to his junior year, but only played basketball...despite playing football just his senior year, he was 1st team all-conference with 74 tackles, 6 sacks and 8 pass deflections for coach Ron Hamamoto...played basketball for two years.
