The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation continued the season-long "Celebrate Volunteerism" campaign with a special weekly focus on service projects (Oct. 9-15).
The Foundation teamed with Rebuilding Together Boston for a volunteerism project in Jamaica Plain on October 10. Patriots and Kraft Group employees spent the day landscaping, painting and cleaning the home of Mozelle and Richard, a Marine Corps veteran. During the afternoon, Pro Football and Patriots Hall of Famer Andre Tippett presented Chris Pedersen with an honorary medal and autographed football as the "Patriots Difference Maker of the Week." Pedersen has volunteered with Rebuilding Together Boston for 11 years.
On October 11, as part of Patriots Community Tuesdays, 16 Patriots players, including Antwaun Molden, Deion Branch, Sergio Brown, Markell Carter, Patrick Chung, Jermaine Cunningham, Kevin Faulk, Stephen Gostkowski, Gary Guyton, Kyle Love, Zoltan Mesko, Nate Solder, Devin McCourty, Wes Welker, Ryan Wendell and Vince Wilfork joined more than 200 volunteers from UnitedHealthcare, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, the West Broadway Neighborhood Association, the Providence Parks Recreation Department and KaBOOM! for a one-day playground build in Providence, R.I. The playground was part of the Patriots focus on volunteerism and is the seventh built by KaBOOM! as part of UnitedHealthcare's "Do Good. Live Well." initiative.
Throughout the 2011 season, the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation will celebrate volunteerism as its season-long initiative. With this special focus on volunteerism, the Kraft family and the Foundation will honor Myra Kraft's lifetime commitment to philanthropy and charitable services.
