December 21 was a special day for the Patriots Cheerleaders. They had the opportunity to host a cheerleading clinic for cheerleaders who participated in the Cheer for Dana Farber fundraising program in support of adult and pediatric cancer care and research. Almost 100 cheerleading teams participated in this three-month long initiative, with the top six fundraising squads earning the reward of a cheerleading clinic at Gillette Stadium.
The day began with a special meet and greet with the Beverly Youth Cheerleading Squad, right on the Gillette Stadium field. Those ambitious, spirited and enthusiastic cheerleaders, many as young as six years old, were able to raise over $17,000.00! They raised money, raised awareness, and learned at a young age the importance of giving back to their community and how, as individuals, and as a team, they can make a difference. The field visit was followed by a special tour of the Patriots Cheerleaders locker room and then it was on to the Dana Farber Field House to join the other five teams for the cheerleading clinic.
Congratulations to Wakefield High School, Rhode Island Elite All Stars, Hull Youth Cheerleading, Concord Carlisle High School, Beverly Youth Cheerleaders, and to Wachusett Regional High School, the winners of the grand prize drawing; a game day performance during the Patriots vs. Bills game on December 29th! The room was filled the excitement as the cheerleaders learned dances, cheers, stunts, tumbling and team building techniques from the Patriots Cheerleaders. Performances and Patriots Cheerleaders introductions took place on breaks and the clinic ended with photos and an autograph session.
We'd like to thank everyone who participated in the Cheer for Dana Farber fundraising program. We're proud of you and we commend you on your efforts!
