INDIANAPOLIS - The media portion of the Combine will come to a close on Sunday after the cornerbacks and safeties make their way through the press conference process.
Sunday is a very interesting day from a Patriots perspective as the team could target a safety, a cornerback or both with its five picks, maybe even early selections. Safety has already been mentioned as one of the premier groups in this draft class by the likes of Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff as well as NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock.
Beyond the interviews with the defensive backs, it will be an exciting day for the on-field workouts that can be seen on NFLN. The skill position players – the quarterbacks, running backs and wide receivers – will be running 40s and strutting their stuff in various position drills inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
We were also promised some cupcake samples from former Patriots linebacker, Indy resident, Big 10 Network correspondent and bakery owner Rosevelt Colvin. I put in an order for a red velvet – which he mocked as being too plain a choice – and hope he comes through on his promise.
Sunday also will be a get-away day for the boys of PFW/Patriots.com. We'll be covering the Combine until mid-afternoon before we attempt to get on a plane early this evening – along with the bulk of the New England media that's still in attendance – to fly back to a snowy/rainy Boston. So be sure to check the blog and Patriots.com for updates from the final day of the 2013 NFL Combine, as well as early next week for any leftover nuggets we pull from the prospect process here in Indy.
