The New England Patriots lost to the Denver Broncos 27-21 at Mile High Stadium.
With time winding down in the fourth quarter, a touchdown catch by WR Vincent Brisby brought New England within seven points of the lead (27-21). But the Patriots could not convert on the onside kick.
Denver jumped out to a 17-0 lead in the first half with toucdowns by TE Shannon Sharpe and RB Terrel Davis. Kicker Jason Elam put up the games' first score with a 53-yard field goal on the Broncos' opening drive.
The Patriots came within three points of the Broncos in the third quarter with a 24 yard TD catch by Troy Brown, (17-14).
