Dolphins trade LB Ayanbadejo to Chicago

The Miami Dolphins traded linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo, a Pro Bowl alternate on special teams last season, to the Chicago Bears for tight end John Owens and a conditional draft pick.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Aug. 29, 2005) -- The Miami Dolphins traded linebacker Brendon Ayanbadejo, a Pro Bowl alternate on special teams last season, to the Chicago Bears for tight end John Owens and a conditional draft pick.

Ayanbadejo led the Dolphins in special teams tackles the past two years with 19 in 2003 and 23 in 2004. He also had 20 tackles and an interception as a linebacker last season.

Owens, who appeared in two games with the Bears after being claimed off waivers from Detroit Oct. 25, has five receptions for 49 yards in three seasons.

The trade is contingent on the players passing their physicals.
