With New England's 16-14 win over the New York Giants Sunday, Head Coach Pete Carroll continued his dominance in pre-October games. In three seasons with the Patriots, Carroll is 9-1 in games played before October.
This is only the fourth time in team history that New England has won its first three games, and each time they won at least the first four games.. The last time the Patriots did so was in Carroll's first season, 1997. That year the team opened 4-0 and finished 10-6. New England lost in the second round of the playoffs to Pittsburgh.
In 1974, the Patriots opened 4-0, and in 1964 the team started out 5-0. With the Cleveland Browns up next on New England's schedule, the Patriots have a decent shot at starting this year with four straight victories.
