There have been few bright spots on the field for the Patriots in the last two weeks. Among the few highlights has been the job by rookie Kevin Faulk on kickoff returns.
Against Miami Faulk had six returns for 115 yards. It was his second straight game with more than 100 return yards, as he exploded for 170 yards on four returns against the New York Jets.
On the season Faulk has 32 kickoff returns for 783 yards. He is on pace to break the club record for most returns in a season, which was set by Stephen Starring in 1985. Faulk needs 18 returns in the final six games to eclipse Starring's total of 48.
With an average of 24.5 yards per return, Faulk is also on pace to gain 1,253 kickoff yards this year, which would break Mack Herron's record of 1,092 set in 1973. To break Herron's mark, Faulk needs to gain 310 return yards. If Faulk can average of 51.6 return yards per game, he will establish a new team record.
