FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Nearly a dozen former Patriots players will gather this weekend to host a football clinic in Durham, N.H. to share years of football experience with local boys and girls. The one-day clinic, dubbed "Football for YOU," is a free clinic provided by the New England Patriots Alumni Club (NEPAC) and The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation (NEPCF). The clinic will take place on Saturday, June 29 at Bremner Field at the University of New Hampshire, located at 145 Main Street in Durham. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the clinic will conclude at 11:30 a.m.
"The Patriots alumni are dedicated to giving back to the communities that inspired them throughout their playing careers," said NEPAC President and former Patriots center Pete Brock. "This is a great opportunity for kids at all levels of experience to be exposed to the benefits of organized sports."
The one-day clinic will include a special speaker to talk to children about his experience as a Patriots player and to encourage participants to make healthy lifestyle choices. Patriots alumni will instruct youth by coaching skill sessions throughout the clinic at every position. Many of the former players bring years of coaching experience gained following their playing careers.
Hundreds of boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are expected to attend the event. All "Football For YOU" youth will participate as part of the NFL's Play 60 initiative, which promotes healthy living among young fans. NEPAC values the clinics because they expose kids to football who may have never had the chance to participate in organized athletics.
Participation is free of charge and same-day registrations are welcome. Each child receives a T-shirt and Patriots gift bag. Children will also be treated to a free lunch after the clinic. Participants are welcome to stay for the high school football all-star game following the clinic. For more information about the "Football for YOU" program or NEPAC visit www.patriots.com/community.
