New England Vice President of Player Personnel Bobby Grier and the rest of the Patriots scouting staff has gone to Mobile, Alabama to get a look at college prospects this week.
The team scouts will watch the top college seniors practice throughout the week in preparation for this weekend's Senior Bowl. The game will be played Saturday, Jan. 22 at 1:30 p.m. at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
In other key news, the NFL has moved the start of the free agent signing period from March 2 to February 11. This gives New England less time to make decisions concerning several unrestricted free agents on the roster.
The Patriots have eight unrestricted free agents. They are wide receivers Troy Brown and Shawn Jefferson, safety Lawyer Milloy, cornerback Steve Israel, linebackers Tedy Bruschi and Marty Moore, guard Heath Irwin and defensive lineman Chris Sullivan.
