Jags sign returner Allen, release DE Barnes

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed a tender agreement with return man David Allen and released defensive end Lionel Barnes.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (April 4, 2005) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars signed a tender agreement with return man David Allen and released defensive end Lionel Barnes.

Allen has spent the past two seasons returning punts and kicks for the Jaguars and seeing spot duty as a running back. He returned 15 punts for 144 yards and 11 kickoffs for 210 yards in five games with the Jags last season. He also added two receptions.

Barnes started three games for the Jaguars before he was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury in October. He finished with 25 tackles and two sacks in two seasons with Jacksonville.
