Patriots defensive tackle Garrett Johnson had a strong game in Barcelona's 27-20 win over the Amsterdam Admirals 27-20 in the Dragons first victory of the NFL Europe season on Sunday.
Johnson recorded a sack of Amsterdam quarterback Ron Powlus, recorded another solo tackle and was able to pressure the Admirals backfield throughout the game. Johnson is tied for seventh on the team in tackles with seven through three games.
Patriots teammate Marc Megna also had a solid game at linebacker for the Dragons. Megna recorded four tackles in the win and is third on Barcelona with 12 tackles. Megna did have a bad highlight in Barcelona's win when he missed a blocking assignment on special teams that resulted in punter Chris Hanson getting tackled before getting the kick off.
Wide receiver Sean Morey had a quiet game after his 11-catch debut in Week Two. Morey was held to just one catch for eight yards. However, cornerback Antonio Banks was called for pass interference while covering Morey on a key third-down play late in the fourth quarter. The penalty resulted in an automatic first down and helped the Dragons sustain a clock-eating drive as they held off a second half rally by the Admirals.
In other NFL Europe action, Patriots defensive lineman Noel Scarlett and the Scottish Claymores lost for the first time, 24-20, to Berlin on Saturday. Scarlett recorded two tackles, but was also flagged twice. He had a 5-yard encroachment penalty, and then a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct call in the fourth quarter.
